Opus Sanctorum Angelorum Priest Retreats

The Opus Angelorum sponsors a five day silent retreat for priests every year on the last week of September, Monday through Friday. This retreat is usually led by one or two priests of the Order of Canons Regular of the Holy Cross and it takes place at the Maryville Retreat Center in Holly, MI. We have selected facilities at Maryville Retreat Center because of it's beautiful location in the countryside, its comfortable rooms and its warm and friendly atmosphere. The retreat starts on late Monday afternoon and silence begins only after the evening meal, this means that during dinner the priests attending have the opportunity to become acquainted with each other if they like. On Wednesday there is an optional recreation for the Priests where the silence is momentarily broken. Priests attending may choose to celebrate privately or to concelebrate at the daily Mass. There is plenty of free time to rest and pray.



The basic format of the retreat schedule is as follows:

5:10 pm - Vespers

5:30 PM - Dinner ( Talking)

6:30 PM - Opportunity for Confession

7:30 PM - Holy Mass & Conference

Tuesday / Wednesday

6:45 am - Lauds & Holy Mass

8:00 am - Breakfast

9:30 am - Conference

11:45 am - Sext

12:00 PM - Lunch

2:00 PM - 3:30 PM - Adoration

4:00 PM - Conference

5:10 PM - Vespers

5:30 PM - Dinner

7:50 PM - Compline

Thursday

6:45 am - Lauds & Holy Mass

8:00 am - Breakfast

9:30 am - Conference

11:45 am - Sext

12:00 PM - Lunch

3:30 PM - Conference

5:10 PM - Vespers

5:30 PM - Dinner

9:00 PM - 12:00 am - Adoration - Compline - the Blessed Sacrament
will remain exposed until midnight.

Friday

6:45 am - Lauds & Holy Mass

8:00 am - Breakfast

9:30 am - Conference

12:00 PM - Lunch (talking) ~ departure

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM - Passio Domini - Adoration - Way of the Cross
